Deck the walls.. a cool summer nights work/sesh.

we skated and created last weekend during the pleasantly surprising Missouri summer weather. 50F at night and 70F in the day with almost no humidity!!! It was paradise compared to the previous work/skate sesh. Here are some images captured from this time zone.

Hermann's Greatest Hits

A random pile of pics from the past year in the valley of the Hole bowl.

Back in the day I skated to work... Now I work to skate.

What have you done for skateboarding lately?

Piano Keys

In between rain storms Soup went out to the Hole and mortar dropped red brick coping blocks on the new corner pocket... They still need to be grouted, and a deck poured behind before we can safely skate it. Don't wanna break those keys off too soon. Looks good!!

July 2009, bank to corner pocket.

Thursday 9th of July we poured a huge section of flat with a pump bump in the 100 degree heat.. Battling hoarse flies, heat exhaustion, and possible malaria. It was no easy task!! All country boys did survive, and we had cold drinks into the night to revive.. The next day it all seemed like some kinda dream... Nightmare??
Young diggers from the city showed up Friday night just in time to help prep the corner pocket on the right of the bank to ledge.. Morning came soon enough, and the wall got done almost quicker than a pack of hoarse flies could come out to see what was up.

Huge thanks to everybody who came out to help in these gruesome elements!! Your all super humans in your own super humanic ways!!!

King's Highway

A few months ago I was skating Burnside Skate park early one morning before catching a flight home to St. Louis.. The whole flight I was thinking "with all the urban wasteland in STL, all these old bridges and hidden concrete flats that never see the light of day, why not start a project in Saint Louis??"

Well I got home unpacked my bags, and before I could sit down to do nothing I got a call that I should go check out what the kids are doing at King's Highway. So I did, and next thing I know we were throwing tranny down on jersey barriers. Since then some strong bank/ledges & some ill-legit obstacles have been built, destroyed by urethane, patched, painted, & ridden again. The mickey mouse style of building has to mutate into making things the proper way and sticking to code if we really want to impress these city officials. Also it is just easier and more cost efficient to build correctly the first time. Now many months have gone by.. There is rumor with fairly strong foundations that the city accepts what skaters are doing there and have given a green light.

So anyway the Hermann's Hole building crew wanted to help by putting a ramp under the bridge that actually is set to building code.. We had a week long build planned for the jungle facility and decided to take one day into the city to throw down the first section of what could easily be a bowl soon.. With a few leftover garden products and proper motivation we made this quarter pipe.

Yes it has a steel cage, 6 inches of concrete, and is not gonna break apart... If you wanna help go to the bridge... Between the quarter pipe and bank to wall there is a pallet to add sacks of crete.. Maybe more to come in the future.

Encounters of Go Skateboarding Day Eve.

Steve BSD
50cent FSG deathbox

BBQ skewers, fishing in the river, shooting arrows and skating in the deep woods of this historic Missouri valley is what its all about these days.. Last week 50cent Kent and his crew rolled up from Little Rock, Arkansas to shred the gnarls on Go Skateboarding Day Eve.. Kent threw up his faithful front 5 grinder everywhere coping is known to live, and then Sleezy Steve did a never been done back disaster in the secret 6 pocket.. It was sick!! These guys have been at it with their DIY style adding to the legendary Kanis Bowl in Little Rock.. They been doing a great job from what I've seen!! Even the city is involved and donating help. There is currently a few ass whipping jersey walls and a huge quarter pipe.. If you go through Arkansas make sure you stop at Kanis and lend a helping hand.

Also Deaf skateboards had a new team mate out for a visit all the way from Columbus, Ohio.. Brandon White came out just to kill everything in sight.. Brandon was the first at Hermann's Hole to ever drop into the deathbox with out knowing it was there and smashed his head all over the flat.. Good thing he's only 18 cuz he healed in just a few minutes!! Brian killed it as well with his 1st frontsider over the deathbox and loads of circus stunts.

Last June 50cent Kent came out and helped me place the sewer lid which is now part of the deck.

Due to Father Day plans for most of us..... Go Skateboarding Day Eve was created to celebrate what will someday be the greatest American past time ever (skateboarding), and to get the most outta the 2nd longest day of the year.

Alien Artifact

This spot is epic!! I don't want you to find it so please don't ask... Although Hermann's Hole may offer to purchase this steel artifact in the very near future.
